Nebraska football has played, but never beaten these programs

Though the Huskers have one of the greatest winning traditions in college football, they are winless against these notable programs.

Nebraska vs. Georgia Southern

Another painful loss for Nebraska was the shocking 2022 loss to FCS program Georgia Southern. That's the only time Nebraska and the Eagles have met.

In the 45-42 upset in Lincoln in week three of the season, Georgia Southern scored on an 8-yard TD run with just 36 seconds to go in the game. However, QB Casey Thompson got his team in range for a potential game-tying field goal but the 52-yard kick was no good as time ran out.

This was the end for head coach and Nebraska alum Scott Frost. The Huskers would go just 4-8 overall that season but Frost wouldn't survive the loss to Georgia Southern as he was fired the next day.

Many in Lincoln felt that Frost's firing was long overdue so in a way, dropping this game to an FCS team might have been a blessing in disguise. However, it was still a very embarrassing mark on the program's resume and it's a game that many Cornhuskers will never forget because it finally forced AD Trev Alberts to do what he had been putting off for far too long.
