Nebraska football fans, like much of the rest of the college football world were likely having some mixed feelings about the news of Jim Harbaugh leaving the Michigan Wolverines. After all, it would have been nice to beat him once before he left.
But his depature also likely takes a bite out of the swagger that Wolverines fans have been displaying this season. Even if the next guy is a very good hire, the team is still almost certainly going to take at least one step back.
And that's where my master plan comes in. What if Michigan took more than a few steps back. After all, Harbaugh is fleeing Ann Arbor while there's still an open investigation into his program engaging in rampant cheating.
And that's where Scott Frost could come in. It might sound like a crazy idea but there's method to the madness. There's a reason Nebraska football fans would love to see him take over the Michigan job.
Yes, there would be pain for the Wolverines in the short term. Frost isn't someone who thrives in the spotlight. If he thought Lincoln was a pressure cooker, I can't even imagine what he'd think of Michigan.
There'd also be joy for Nebraska football fans who would enjoy watching him take another program down a peg. He'd almost certainly be fired inside of three years on the job in that town.
There's no guarantee he'd last past his first season. But that's also where this becomes a situation UM fans could take advantage. It's entirely possible that the next coach is going to be coaching under some kind of NCAA sanctions.
Nebraska football fans could feel Michigan's pain with Scott Frost at the helm
Do Wolverine fans really want Sherrone Moore dealing with those sanctions? Wouldn't they rather he or whoever would come after Frost, come in with a clean slate?
A Scott Frost following Jim Harbaugh scenario would be a win-win. Nebraska football fans could finally say "I'm glad he's over there." And Michigan fans could weather whatever storm is coming from Harbaugh's cheating and get ready for the next guy.
Let's make it happen.
