Nebraska Cornhuskers News: Jim Harbaugh leaving before he gets busted, more
The Nebraska Cornhuskers might not have to worry about Jim Harbaugh at Michigan too much longer. It appears as though the Wolverines head coach has a foot out the door and is moving closer to exiting Ann Arbor for the NFL.
Things seemed to be closer than ever on Monday when a new report began circulating that Harbaugh is getting a second interview with the San Diego Chargers. If that wasn't enough proof that he seems to be on the way out, he is also scheduled to meet with the Atlanta Falcons for a second time this week, according to Tom Pelissero of tthe NFL Network.
It's long been thought that Harbaugh might leave college football before he faces the music for more than one NCAA infraction. The most high profile of those is the sign stealing and cheating scandal that broke earlier this season.
However, there is also the recruiting violations investigation that Michigan tried to cut off at the pass by suspending Harbaugh for the first few weeks of the 2023 season. However, the NCAA has never said that it won't still take its own action against the National Championship winning head coach.
Sources around college football and the NFL believe he's entertaining offers from the pros this year precisely because he's getting out while the getting is good. It's possible that could mean that Michigan's loss will be the Nebraska Cornhuskers' gain if a conference rival has to look for a new coach.
