Nebraska football fans can literally pay the Huskers for wins

There's a new NIL operation going on for the Nebraska football team that allows fans to pay the program for each win.

Since Troy Dannen arrived in Lincoln and started working on transforming the school’s NIL operations, especially for the Nebraska football team, things have gotten better. The Huskers are now considered one of the better NIL programs in the country.

And now, the program has a brand new fund raising effort rolling on. And this one might be one of the more interesting approaches you’ll see in college sports. The university is allowing fans to pay per win.

The new Nebraska football program is very simple. The Pledge Per Win allows people to set up an account in the system and say how much money they want to donate after every Husker win.

To be clear, it looks as though it is only after wins, which is certainly an interesting way to give Husker fans power over their money. The site also allows users to set a maximum donation. Presumably this is in case the Cornhuskers win more games than someone expected and they end up being on the hook for more than they expected.

Nebraska football rolls out pay per win system

To be clear, this isn’t from 1890 and isn’t specifically an NIL approach. This is money that goes to the university as donations, rather than to the players specifically. I would imagine at least part of the reason for that is paying for wins would qualify as “pay for play.”

So while fans won’t be paying the players, they’ll be paying the school. Those funds will go to things like the stadium project and even help get real grass on the field
