It feels like Harper Murray could not be having a worse offseason. The Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball star, who has had not one but two run-ins with the law this spring, showed off a visit to the hospital earlier this week.

Just as things looked like there was light at the end of the tunnel for Murray, some Husker fans wondered if she’d gone and suffered a fourth of July injury. That’s because Murray posted a social media entry on her personal TikTok page that she had to go to the hospital.

The video showcased her in a hospital room with bandages on the ring and pinky fingers on what appeared to be her left hand. The video's caption stated "when you end up at the ER on the 4th."

It took no time at all for Nebraksa Cornhuskers fans to wonder if she’d hurt herself shooting off fireworks. And it didn’t take long after that for fans to start wondering if whatever happened might be something that affected her volleyball season.

Harper Murray tamps down worries

However, of the Nebraska volleyball star saw that people were jumping to conclusions, she made another post, this time on Twitter that was meant to make fans stop worrying about what might have been.

“Appreciate all the concern about my finger,” Murray wrote. “I got an infection in my nail bed & needed to have it drained. Happy holiday weekend everyone.”

In the process, the Nebraska Cornhuskers star probably learned a lesson about just how closely fans and media watch their social media. In an age where everyone is online, relatively innocuous events can turn into big ones rather quickly.

It’s also likely there are few people ready for the season to start so she can focus on just playing and winning and put this nightmare offseason behind her than Harper Murray.
