The Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team is in the Big Ten Tournament final for the first time in over a decade. Jaz Shelley certainly played a big hand in making that on Saturday afternoon.
Shelley has had an excellent Big Ten tournament but took her game to the next level in the semifinals. Against Maryland, Shelley was not only the high scorer for either team in the 78-68 win but was the only player on either squad to score more than 15 points.
Shelley dominated the Terps, scoring 30 points, dishing out 9 assists, and hauling down 4 rebounds. No other Nebraska Cornhuskers players scored more than 9 points. But Jaz played perfectly enough that Amy Williams's squad that they’ll be taking on the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday morning.

- While Jaz Shelley and company kept their run going, the Nebraska baseball team was busy bouncing back after a rough home opener. After losing 11-3 to South Alabama on Friday, the Huskers got back on the winning track with a 13-2 victory over the Jaguars. Bouncing back has been the name of the game for Will Bolt’s squad who is off to an 8-4 start to the season thanks to another great game by Brett Sears. Sears went 8 innings and allowed just 4 hits and 2 runs while striking out 7. He lowered his ERA to 1.78 on the season and gave the bullpen a much-needed rest.
- Nebraska football defensive lineman turned two-sport star Nash Hutmacher continued his storybook wrestling season. On Saturday, he officially qualified for the NCAA Wrestling Championships. Hutmacher qualified by winning two consolation round matches at the Big Ten Championships. He'll have a chance to medal on Sunday. He’s gone 7-4 this season after finishing the football season with 40 tackles and then losing 50 pounds to join the wrestling team.
