The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team is rehaping how it's going to operate a bit in 2024. In the process the move showed that while things have been mostly positive around Matt Rhule and company in the last few weeks, the head coach is nowhere close to content with how things went in 2023.

On Sunday afternoon, Pete Thamel reported that the Huskers parted ways with director of football relations CJ Cavazos. The move is an interesting one if only because Cavazos' hire was certainly in keeping with what Rhule has made a priority in recruiting.

In addition to having a background in the XFL, Cavazos also has a 25-year run with his own recruiting service in the state of Texas on his resume. Since coming to Lincoln, Rhule has made going after recruits in the Lonestar State a priority.

It's not as though the Nebraska Cornhuskers are rethinking the strategy of going after Texas. They had five high school commits from the state in their 2024 class. So far, Nebraska has been silent on the move so the motivation isn't clear yet.

  • The men's Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball team weren't the only ones who had a tough weekend. The women's team did as well, though not quite as bad as Hoiberg's squad. In fact, Amy Williams' squad put together a massive rally to try and upend the Minnesota Golden Gophers, but still fell short, 62-58 to fall to 12-5 on the season.
  • The Omaha World-Herald took a deep dive look at how the Nebraska football team could lean on an offensive line that got better as the season went on in 2023. Veterans got better and young players showed a flash of the future for 2024.
  • It's been a winter of mostly bad news for the Nebraska Volleyball team after losing in the National Championship match. However, they got some very good news this weekend as they landed a solid middle blocker in Leyla Blackwell. It's clear that John Cook is just reloading for another run at the title.

We leave you with a hilarious statistic as you're reminded that Iowa still doesn't have a new offensive coordinator. Iowa was shut out three times this past season, including in its bowl against Iowa. As the Twitter account Arbitrary Analytics pointed out, that matches the same number of times the Nebraska Cornhuskers have been shut out since the season Tom Osborne was hired.
