Nebraska 2025 football schedule: Known and confirmed opponents

Everyone is very excited about the Nebraska football team in 2024. There's even talk about the Huskers tying for third in the Big Ten. There's quite a bit of talk about them going bowling and starting to show that the program has been turned around.

While the focus and the excitement is all about this fall, it's hard not to look ahead to future seasons. It's never too early to start looking at 2025 and how that season might shape up. Especially since it will be the year that all the new additions to the Big Ten will have introduced themselves and rivalries have had time to form.

Nebraska 2025 football schedule: Known and confirmed opponents

For now, the entire Nebraska football schedule for 2025 has been released. The real question is if there might be some changes to the non-conference slate between now and then. That's because the Huskers are opening the season against the Cincinnati Bearcats.

That's noteworthy because Nebraska footbal head coach Matt Rhule has talked about not wanting to play Power Conference teams ahead of the Big Ten slate.

After the season opener, the schedule gets much easier for a few weeks. On September 6, NU will host the Akron Zips. That would be the same Zips that finished 2-10 in 2023.

On September 13, the schedule gets even easier as Houston Christian comes to town. The Huskies are an FCS squad that went 6-5 last fall.

From there on, it's not known exactly when the Nebraska football team will play their Big Ten opponents, but they do know who is on the schedule. It's a pretty interesting and pretty tough slate for Matt Rhule's third season in Lincoln.

Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern and USC are slated to come to Lincoln. Of those games, the only date we can be nearly 100 percent certain about is that the Hawkeyes will be the regular season finale on Black Friday.

At some point in 2025, the Nebraska football team will travel to Maryland, Minnesota, Penn State and the UCLA Bruins.
