The Nebraska football team’s coaches are officially moving on from the loss to Illinois. And when Matt Rhule took to the podium to talk to the media on Monday, he mentioned there is one player who could be a secret weapon both against Purdue and for the rest of the season.

Sua Lefotu hasn’t been able to take a snap yet so far this year. However, Rhule said that he’s just about back from injury and when he does return, he’ll be giving the Huskers some more depth on the defensive line.

That might be especially good considering the Nebraska football team has struggled to stop the run the last two weeks. They’ve also struggled a bit to get pressure on the quarterback. Having depth on the line could be the difference.

“Sua is back now, which I've been waiting for," Rhule said. It seems that means the defensive lineman could help against the Boilermakers on Saturday morning.

The return of Lefotu is also one of those nice tidbits of news because the Huskers have only been losing bodies since the start of the season. This week, Rhule made it clear that offensive lineman Turner Corcoran will be out for “a while.”

Defensive back Tommi Hill is also injured and is day-to-day. He might return for the game against Purdue or he might not. But Lefotu is back and he might be ready to roll.

He returns to NU hoping to parlay a strong spring into a bigger role on the defensive line rotation. The redshirt freshman out of Bellflower, California is hoping to show that he earned his 3-star rating out of high school.

In his recruitment, he earned offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Michigan State, Nevada, Tennessee, Washington, and Wisconsin, on top of his offer from the Nebraska football team.

Now he’s hoping to make an impact for the first time.
