As if Nebraska football's game against Colorado wasn't already huge. Now it will be called by one of the more hated rival quarterbacks of the last 20 years. And as it turns out, it will be the first game he's ever called.

When the Huskers take on the Buffs on Saturday night on September 7 under the lights, NBC will have a rookie analyst taking things in. The network announced earlier this week that former Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy will be the analyst for the tilt.

“Colt McCoy, a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist at the University of Texas and 14-year NFL quarterback, will join NBC Sports as an analyst for Big Ten Football coverage, it was announced today,” the NBC Sports press release read. “McCoy will serve as a game analyst and will also appear on the Big Ten College Countdown studio show. That McCoy will be broadcasting the Nebraska football game was announced on the same day that he announced his retirement from the NFL.

Nebraska football trolled by NBC over Colt McCoy

Obviously, this decision is almost certainly not a conscious troll job by NBC, but one has to think Husker fans won't love the decision. Especially if the game is close and McCoy makes a comment that seems a bit biased towards Colorado.

McCoy was the quarterback for the Longhorns during a period of Big 12 history when NU was making its best charge towards the top of the conference under Bo Pelini.

Most Husker fans would obviously remember him as the quarterback of the Texas team that managed to overcome Ndamukong Suh and company in the final second of a 2009 game that determined the Big 12 title.

That loss has been especially painful over the years as it was the last time that the Huskers really looked like the class of their conference.

As the Nebraska football team tries to rebuild and get back to the top of the college football world, it's not going to be the funnest reminder out there to have Colt McCoy talking about the action unfolding on the field.
