A veteran offensive lineman for the Nebraska football team got some terrible news this week. The news of Teddy Prochazka’s latest knee injury comes as the left tackle was hoping to actually make it through a season without being banged up.

Instead, he’ll miss the entire 2024 season with a torn ACL. It’s hard to tell whether it’s a positive or a negative that this isn’t the same ACL he tore a few years back. What does that mean is that the offensive lineman is once again having to try and rehab.

Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule announced Prochazka is out for the season on Tuesday morning. The good news there is that the Huskers have Turner Corcoran to start at the position, but the injury is a hit to the team’s squad’s depth.

Nebraska football’s loss of Teddy Prochazka is a big blow

The news for the Huskers is bad enough news. It’s absolutely heartbreaking for Prochazka who hasn’t been able to stay healthy for a full season since joining the Cornhuskers.

In 2022, he started the first three games of the season at left tackle before an injury against Georgia Southern that kept him out for the remainder of the year. Last season, he played in the final ten games with six starts, including the final five games at left tackle.

There is some question as to whether or not this injury might be a career ender, simply because he might not want to have to rehab his way all the way back one more time. However, if Prochazka does want to stick around, he’s got one more season of eligibility.

He could also petition the NCAA for an extra hardship year in 2026. In the meantime, Teddy Prochazka’s focus will be on trying to get healthy and just get past the latest injury.

Nebraska football will have to hope they don’t suffer any more injuries to an offensive line that factors heavily into the plans for their 2024 campaign.
