Who knows what's possible in the transfer portal era anymore? Between seven year college players and three school student athletes, some are asking if one former Nebraska player would be able to return to Lincoln to bulk up what is looking to be an already impressive defense.
Former Nebraska Football player reenters the portal
It's hard to forget the contributions made by Myles Farmer during his time with Nebraska Football, but for one reason or another, it does appear that the greener pastures he sought did not manifest quite how he was hoping. The safety from Atlanta Georgia has reentered his name into the transfer portal after one year of playing for the Syracuse Orange.
With a new coaching regime in Syracuse, and a new look team, Farmer is looking elsewhere to finish his remaining single year of eligibility. Playing in all contests last year, as a special teamer, and in a backup role, he amassed 20 tackles during the 2023 season.
Myles Farmer's unceremonious ending with Nebraska Football
This will be Famer's second major coaching overhaul in his career. With then Nebraska Football head coaching newcomer Matt Rhule, Farmer found himself on the outside looking in with an in-team suspension.
After being among the defensive leaders in a starting role, the early break from team activities seemed to have a nebulous reasoning behind it.
"Myles was suspended to end the summer by us just for simple things, nothing major. Just some of our standards, and (he) was not a member of the roster. It's just kind of day-by-day. I love Myles. He's a competitive kid. "Matt Rhule
Coach Rhule would go on be generous by giving Farmer a reason for not being on the same page as the staff due to the shift in culture. There is not currently any word about potential landing spots for him at the point. But a return to Memorial Stadium is unlikely.
