Not long after Myles Farmer decided to play for someone other than Nebraska football, he’s found his next school.

There is little doubt that the loss of Myles Farmer will hurt the Nebraska football team this season. Even if the Huskers’ “next man up” is effective and efficient, it’s never a good thing to lose someone who has played as well as Farmer.

However, if you’re going to lose a player of Farmer’s talent level, I suppose it’s a good thing that he isn’t going to a place that can directly impact the Cornhuskers. The defensive back isn’t pulling an Ernest Hausman and transferring to another Big Ten program.

Instead, the former Nebraska football starter is headed to the ACC and the Syracuse Orange. Interestingly enough, the upstate New York school has become a bit of a landing spot for former Huskers looking for a new program. Back in May, another defensive back in Jalil Martin transferred to the Orange. Now he’s got a former teammate on the roster.

Sports Illustrated’s Mike McCallister was the first to announce Farmer’s new home. It marks the end of a tumultuous time in Lincoln for the star defensive back.

The junior defender has two years of eligibility left, and it seems as if Syracuse has landed a player that can immediately impact a unit trying to replace its defensive coordinator. Of course, they’re working with a new coach there because their former DC, Tony White, took over the same post with the Nebraska football team last winter.

Farmer started 11 games for Nebraska football in 2022, finishing second on the team with 73 tackles. In November, he was cited for a DUI; in March, he pled no contest.

On the first day of the Cornhuskers’ fall camp, head coach Matt Rhule announced Farmer was suspended from the team for not “meeting the standard” of the program. At that time, Rhule said the door was open for the defensive back to return to Nebraska football but jut a few days later, Famer entered the transfer portal.
