Former Washington tailback and Nebraska football receiver Will Nixon has found his new home. According to several reports, the multi-talented athlete is transferring to the Syracuse Orange. In the process, he’ll be playing for a very familiar face.
Nixon is the son of offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon. He has two years of eligibility remaining. Nixon has been a reserve running back for the Huskies during his career, which spanned two seasons. Prior to his two seasons with the Huskies, he spent two with the Huskers.
During his two seasons with Washington, Nixon ran for 290 yards on 54 carries with three touchdowns. He also added 20 catches for 150 yards.
Will Nixon backed up Washington star Dillon Johnson last season. Syracuse will also be getting a player that has experience playing in the biggest games in the sport.
In 2023, he played 28 snaps in the national title game with Johnson banged up. Nixon didn’t get a ton of work but he did show he could handle going against one of the best defenses in the country, carrying the ball twice for seven yards against Michigan.

Ex-Nebraska football star finds his third school
Nixon was with Nebraska for the 2020 and 2021 seasons as a wide receiver. He did not play in 2020 due to a season-ending injury before the season began. For the 2021 season, he appeared in three games and caught one pass for five yards.
It’s possible that the former Nebraska football star’s start as a wide receiver will come in quite handy with Syracuse. The Orange have a rather deep running back room. Nixon could potentially get moved around the field in order to get him the ball in various ways.
If anyone can figure out a way to best use Will Nixon, it would be his father. It will certainly will be interesting to see what the ex-Nebraska football player can do with his third team.
