Former Nebraska Cornhuskers women's basketball player Ashley Scoggin has officially filed a lawsuit against the university and several athletic leaders. The suit revolves around former assistant coach Chuck Love.

“It arises from a professional coach initiating a sexual relationship with a student-athlete on his team, and from the response of the University of Nebraska and its athletic leadership to the confirmation of that relationship,” the lawsuit read.

Scoggin alleges that before Love was suspended and then resigned from his position, he sought romantic relationships with players on the Nebraska women's basketball team. The lawsuit alleged that he did this despite the fact that he was married at the time.

The suit also alleged that while Love was involved in inappropriate relationships, Nebraska head coach Amy Williams "knew or should have known" what Love was doing. "The community of their coaching staff was tightknit, as was the community of coaching staff and student-athletes," the suit reads.

Scoggin was recruited to the Nebraska women's basketball team by Love from Salt Lake Community College in 2020 and the two worked closely together, especially after Scoggin expressed an interest in coaching once her college career was over, according to the player.

Scoggin alleges that her interest in learning coaching led to a lot of one-on-one time with Love and this in turn led her to being "groomed" for a secret sexual relationship with the Huskers' assistant coach.

The biggest bombshell of the lawsuit came when Scoggin alleged that several of her teammates formulated a ruse that allowed them to get into Love's hotel room, where Scoggin was spending time with him. They even created a video and - according to the former Nebraska Cornhuskers star - showed it to Williams.

Love allegedly encouraged Scoggin to lie and claim that nothing inappropriate was going on. She also claims that when Williams was shown the video, rather than dealing with the situation properly, she encouraged the team to berate and scream at Love and Scoggin.

As of now, there hasn't been an official, public response from the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Though one is almost certainly coming, through its own filing.

As part of the fallout from this alleged incident Ashely Scoggin transferred again, this time to UNLV. She's currently playing her final season of college basketball for the Running Rebels.
