Bowl games today: Updated schedule & key matchups for December 29
We're not quite at the point where bowl games today are in the playoffs, but there are some very interesting matchups.
The bowl games today aren’t the real biggies yet, but they’re better than what we’ve seen the last few weeks as far as Power 5 schools matching up. Of course, that doesn’t mean that the games are going to be that much better on the field.
We can all hope that the bowl games today are going to give us plenty to watch. Plenty to cheer and some really interesting plays and players. Maybe even some tryouts for next season.
Bowl games today kicked off by the ACC vs SEC
The first game of the day has a nice early kickoff. If you’re at the office and suddenly find yourself very bored by whatever you’re doing, see if you can turn on the TV, or your favorite streaming service at 11am and tune in ESPN.
The first of the bowl games today is none other than 7-5 Kentucky vs 8-4 and 22nd-ranked Clemson. It’s always interesting when the ACC faces off against the SEC, even if there’s some doubt how many starters are playing.
Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl has most guys sitting out of any bowl games today
The Fighting Irish and the Beavers are doing battle with a ton of players sitting out. In fact, it appears they have combined for the most players sitting out of any game. Neither team has its starting quarterback playing.
They’ll kick off what is a interesting game for no other reason than no one has any idea what it will look like when they go toe-to-toe at 1pm.
AutoZone Liberty Bowl
Memphis vs Iowa State is a bit of a palette cleanser, considering it’s the only one of the bowl games today that doesn’t feature two P5 teams. It’s also interesting because it’s not a matchup we’ve seen only one other time before. The game kicks off at 2:30pm.
Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic
After the Liberty Bowl, there’s a bit of a wait until the prime time 7pm matchup. The best of the bowl games today features 11-1 and 7th ranked Ohio State going up against 10-2 and 9th ranked Missouri.
This will be the 13th time the two teams have met, Missouri is 1-10-1 against the Buckeyes. However this is the first time they’ve both been ranked in the Top 10 when they faced of.
