The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team is expected to be one of the best in the Big Ten. At least by most analysts. However, as the preseason polls have started to be released, it’s clear that Baseball America is not among those who buys into the hype. At least not the point where the Huskers are considered among the best in the sport.
Baseball America released its preseason poll earlier this week and the Huskers weren’t on it. In fact, almost no Big Ten teams were on it. Baseball America has Oregon at No. 19, and Indiana at No. 25, that’s it.
The Ducks have been a mainstay of pretty much every Top 25 poll, though they haven’t all agreed on where they should be. The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team has made just one official poll so far. They made the D1Baseball.com Top 25, just barely as they squeaked in at No. 24 in the poll.
Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball might be setting up for a let down
On the one hand, the Huskers getting inside any poll at the beginning of the season is a massive win. It could portend big things ahead for a program that made the regionals and then ran into a buzzsaw that was Florida.
With the Nebraska basketball season going down the drain quite quickly, there have been some Husker fans who are hoping that the baseball team can offer some fun after a season that will have some competition for the postseason. However, it seems a if not everyone is convinced the Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team can really compete.
