Want a sign that the Nebraska football season is getting closer? The Big Ten Conference and its television partners on Thursday announced starting times and television information for five Husker games. Those times stack on top of what we already knew about NU’s season opener for the neutral site matchup against the Cincinnati Bearcats.
That game was already set for a Thursday night kick off at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday, August 28 at 8 p.m. Now we also now when the Huskers will kick off the rest of their non-conference slate as well as a few Big Ten contests.
Big Ten reveals Nebraska football kickoff times for key early games
While most of the announced times were relatively innocuous there is at least one game that could cause some problems for the Nebraska football team. Alongside the times, it was announced that the Huskers’ game against Minnesota has been moved to Friday night, October 17 at 7 p.m.
The problem with that move, outside of the mere existence of a Friday night game is that Minnesota is one of the bigger late season conference games for the Cornhuskers. The Friday game also means the Huskers will only have six days between the Maryland game and the Minnesota game.
In addition to the Minnesota game, the Huskers now know their second game of the year against Akron will kick off at 6:30 p.m. while the September 13 game against FCS opponent Houston Christian is at 11 a.m.
The September 20 game against Michigan is at 2:30 p.m. and the Black Friday game against Iowa will also be at 11 a.m.
The announcement means Nebraska football is still waiting for official kick times for its games against Michigan State (Oct. 4), Maryland (Oct. 11), Northwestern (Oct. 25), USC (Nov. 1), UCLA (Nov. 8), and Penn State (Nov. 22). It could quite a while until some of those kickoff times are announced.
