The Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team got its full conference schedule announced on Wednesday morning. The Huskers will play 30 matches – beginning with 10 non-conference games before its 20-game Big Ten slate – and it's loaded with the usual array of power programs for Year 1 of the Dani Busboom Kelly Era.
The schedule features eight matches against teams that finished in the Top 10 of the 2024 AVCA national rankings and while most of those are in the Big Ten, the Huskers are taking on their fair share of power teams in the non conference slate as well: No. 1 Penn State, No. 3 Pittsburgh, No. 5 Stanford, No. 6 Creighton, No. 7 Wisconsin, No. 8 Kentucky, No. 9 Purdue and No. 10 Oregon.
Three additional Nebraska Cornhuskers opponents on the 2025 schedule also finished in the Top 25 of the final AVCA rankings: No. 18 Minnesota, No. 23 Utah and No. 24 USC. In other words, the Huskers will run their usual gauntlet meant to prepare them for a deep postseason run.
Nebraska Cornnhuskers softball star Jordy Bahl takes home big award
The end to the season was a tough one for the Nebraska Cornhuskers softball team, but it was one the program will definitely build on. Getting Jordy Bahl back for next season would be a big step in the right direction as she was just named the NFCA Player of the Year.
Over the course of her first full season in Lincoln after being injured in and lost for the year in the 2024 season opener, Bahl led the team on the mound and at the plate, hitting .462 with a school record 23 homers while going 26-8 with a 1.56 earned run average as a pitcher.
The SEC is trying to trick everyone
On Wednesday, LSU head coach Brian Kelly restarted the dialogue about the possibility of the SEC and Big Ten starting a rivalry series every season. However, despite his innocent claims, ti sure seems as if there’s an ulterior motive, mainly dodging having to dodge having as many tough non-conference opponents as any Big Ten team.
