The Nebraska football team is busy preparing for the Las Vegas Bowl, and Matt Rhule and his staff (complete with new members) are also busy getting ready for the 2026 season. With the addition of offensive line coach Geep Wade after firing Donovan Raiola, there's already a lineman the Huskers could pull from the transfer portal when it opens on January 2.
Wade came to the Huskers from Georgia Tech and now one of his charges, Peyton Joseph is expected to transfer. While the Cornhuskers haven't officially secured his commitment, the timing of Joseph's report of wanting to hit the portal certainly doesn't seem coincidental.
Joseph's plan to exit Georgia Tech came just one day after Nebraska hired his position coach.

Geep Wade’s arrival puts Nebraska in prime position for standout Georgia Tech transfer Peyton Joseph
Joseph appeared in six games for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as a true freshman, with 29 of his 33 snaps coming on special teams. The 6-foot-4, 305-pounder will have three seasons of eligibility at his next stop and the ability to redshirt.
Nebraska will almost certainly have some competition for Peyton Joseph, even if they have a big foot in the door. The monster lineman was ranked as the No. 246 overall player and No. 12 interior offensive lineman in the 247Sports composite. The Fort Valley product was also the No. 35 player from Georgia.
Before choosing Georgia Tech, he was committed for quite a while to Florida State. It stands to reason the Seminoles will go after him again and could be Nebraska's main competitor when the transfer portal opens on January 2.
