The Nebraska football team added a couple of Rob Aurich disciples from San Diego State over the winter. The one who could make the biggest impact is Owen Chambliss, who had a learning curve about the culture when he first arrived in Lincoln.
"It's been great," Chambliss said last week in his first spring practice press conference as a Husker. "I think the university is very welcoming, the strongest fan base I've ever had. Been around, just walking around downtown like I've never been recognized in public. It was insane when I first got here. The campus is great."
The linebacker is hardly the first addition to the Nebraska football program who noticed just how dedicated the fanbase is. In fact, most players who come from another program especially notice the dedication and the amount of studying the fanbase does on players' and coaches' faces.
Owen Chambliss is already embracing Nebraska football's culture and the Lincoln fanbase
Chambliss had another take about Lincoln, and it's yet another one multiple players have noticed when they first join the Huskers. "Bigger city than I thought, honestly. Lincoln's a way bigger city. I'm coming from San Diego, so different, but much, much bigger city than I thought, and I love it here."
The good news is that the former Aztec is also reportedly learning how to lead the Blackshirts in short order. It helps that he knows the new defensive coordinator's scheme from their days with SDSU together. That could give him a big edge when he's trying for a starting job with Nebraska this fall.
