Since the talk that Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule might leave the Huskers for Penn State first started, members of his staff and current team have tried to tamp down the rumblings. Now, NU's top 2027 commit, Trae Taylor is making it clear he believes in the Cornhuskers and isn't letting negative recruiting get to him.

Taylor took to X on Thursday morning with a message for everyone trying to steal him away from the Huskers in the wake of the Matt Rhule departure rumors.

Nebraska 2027 commit Trae Taylor doubles down on pledge after Matt Rhule rumors

"With everything going on with @CoachMattRhule many schools have reached out.," the Nebraska commit wrote. "I really appreciate the consideration and love. But I’m Locked “N” with @HuskerFootball."

Trae Taylor also had a message for any other commits or recruits that have had other schools contacting them and claiming they know Rhule is leaving the Huskers. He also offered up a message specifically to NU fans who might be nervous.

"Any recruits that may be considering Nebraska I hope this takes away any concerns. To the fan base GO BIG RED."

This is hardly the first time Taylor has doubled down on his commitment since he chose the Huskers this spring. There's been plenty of talk that the 4-star quarterback might regret committing so early, considering he can't sign until December of 2027. However, he's been as dedicated a commitment as the Huskers have seen in quite some time.

This particular announcement does stand out a bit because Trae Taylor is saying he's shutting down his recruitment. It's an extra step that the Nebraska football team can lean on as it continues to try and build the 2027 class.
