Former Nebraska offensive lineman Teddy Prochazka’s career with the Huskers didn’t go the way anyone planned. While he was consistently one of the more talented players on the offensive line, injuries derailed season after season. The injuries got so bad that while the homegrown Cornhusker could have returned for one more season, he hung up his pads. However, he’s not entirely done with football; he’s making a move from player to coach.
Prochazka is now working at Elkhorn South, coaching the freshmen team. In the process, he’s trying to pass on the lessons he learned during his years in Lincoln. Now Teddy Prochazka spends most of his days getting called Coach P. He said that his players can also call him Coach or Coach Prochazka. However, he made it clear that the one thing they can’t call him is Teddy.
The former Nebraska offensive lineman is the head coach of the Storm. He’s also the guy who will be calling offensive plays for his 9th-grade team. He hinted that at least some of the plays he’s run will be ones that he learned during his years with the Huskers.
As he moves to a full-time coaching role, Prochazka is still feeling the effects of his playing days. He’s still rehabbing an ACL he tore last October against Northwestern. However, he told the Omaha World-Herald that even while he’s still healing from his injury, he will do his best to line up and show his players the right technique.

The ex-Husker said that he always worked better when he was shown and could then copy the technique. “Might as well give them the best of both worlds.”
This isn’t technically Prochazka’s first foray into working as a coach. He worked as a grad assistant for Nebraska when he wasn’t on the field. That’s why Husker head coach Matt Rhule said back in November that he thought the offensive lineman would make a great coach if that were something he wanted to do.
“I think he’d be great at it,” Rhule said last fall. “He’s someone that is selflessly always trying to give to others. He’s someone who’s always trying to pour into others. He’s literally one of the most remarkable young men I’ve ever coached. I can’t have every former player but I’d love to have him (on staff). I’d love to get him started because I think he’ll be great.”
Interestingly enough, Teddy Prochazka is the second former Nebraska player beginning his coaching career this fall. Defensive lineman Elijah Jeudy took a job with Highland Community College as the school’s defensive line coach.
