While the vibes haven't been great since the Nebraska football team lost another close game to USC, which also cost them their starting quarterback, perhaps the commitment of Antayvious "Tay" Ellis can flip the mood.

Ellis, a 4-star receiver out of Texas, was in Lincoln to check out the Huskers' game against USC and made it clear that he liked everything he saw. He liked it, in fact, that on Monday night, he decided to pull the trigger on a commitment, according to Rivals' Tim Verghese.

Nebraska football adds 4-star receiver Tay Ellis to 2027 class

Earlier on Monday, Ellis told Rivals that when he was checking out Nebraska, it felt like he was spending time with family. He had especially hit it off with wide receivers' coach Daikiel Shorts Jr. The relationship was good enough that he decided to join a 2027 recruiting class that was already ranked among the best in the country.

Tay Ellis is now the fifth addition to Nebraska's 2027 class that is currently ranked No. 4 in the country. Ellis joins fellow wide receiver Jabari Watkins, as well as quarterback Trae Taylor and offensive tackle Matt Erickson, on the offensive side of the ball.

On the defense, Tory Pittman is one of the top players in the country and the top player in Nebraska, and is considered a lockdown defensive back.

Likely, Ellis won't be the only commit to come out of the Blackout weekend. Nebraska is considered a leader for running back Amir Brown and tight end Ahmad Hudson. Both are among the best in the 2027 class at their positions.
