There have been a ton of changes to the Nebraska football program over the last couple of years. A new head coach in Matt Rhule, who has in turn led the Huskers to their first winning season and bowl win since 2016 and 2015 respectively.

There’s been dealing with NIL and the transfer portal in ways that the program has never seen before. And of course there’s been the impending roster limits that are going to offer some serious setbacks to players who had their hearts set on being walkons with the Huskers and other programs.

And now it looks like the Nebraska footbal program is going to see an even bigger change. On Wednesday night, the same night that the university has been working with a new head volleyball coach, athletic director Troy Dannen hinted that the Spring Game might be going away.

Nebraska football might be saying goodbye to the Spring Game

Adam Krueger with KMTV News in Lincoln reported that Dannen hinted that instead of a full spring game, there will be a ‘fall sports preview’ on Saturday April 26th.

Krueger added that the Nebraska football program might spell out just what is planned for this spring on Saturday. That’s when head coach Matt Rhule is expected to talk about everything in the offing. He’ll also likely discuss several of his new hires, especially those of which were hired after the final press conference of the season just after the Pinstripe Bowl.

Should Rhule announce the big change on Saturday it would be the end to a decades old Husker tradition.
