With the Nebraska football team's spring game back in effect after a one-year hiatus, the Huskers are expecting dozens of visitors. Among those is Robert (Tre) Geathers III, a son of a former NFL defensive lineman who is looking to walk in his father's footsteps.
The younger Geathers announced on Friday that he was coming to Lincoln to check out the Huskers in person for the spring game. The well-known recruiting tool is used to nab some of the programs' best commitments, and Tre would certainly fit that bill.Â
Granted, things are in a state of flux, considering that traveling anywhere by air is quite a bit more difficult than usual, thanks to a partial government shutdown and the fumbling of an agreement to fund the TSA by House Republicans.
Excited to be back in Lincoln tomorrow to watch Nebraska’s spring game!!! 🌽🌽@Rob_Dvoracek @CoachMattRhule @ChadGrier_ @PDS_ChargersFB @ChadSimmons_ @AnnaH247 @benjaminwolk @SWiltfong_ @FriedmanAdamm pic.twitter.com/4RUMi3AzHK

Robert Geathers III will visit Nebraska football for the Huskers’ spring game
Nebraska has its work cut out for it in the recruitment of Robert Geathers III, as he's currently considered to have strong feelings about Tennessee. However, the spring game environment and the red carpet that will be rolled out for himÂ
Geathers, a defender from Providence Day School (Charlotte, NC), is seen as either a linebacker or a safety at the next level. Rivals has the 6-foot-1.5, 195-pound player rated as the No. 20 player in North Carolina, the No. 54 safety, and the No. 567 player in the class, and has earned 3 stars.Â
247Sports has him ranked as the No. 17 player in the state and the No. 47 safety in the class. The site also has him as a 3-star prospect.
In his junior season, Geathers put together an impressive resume on a 13‑0 state championship run, showcasing the kind of production that turns heads on the recruiting trail. His tape backs it up. Geathers logged 72 total tackles with 37 of them solo, plus three interceptions, nine pass breakups, and a touchdown.
As the son of an accomplished NFL player, Robert Geathers III knows what it takes to make it big at a program like Nebraska. Showing him how the Huskers operate should go a long way towards getting a commit from the talented defender.
