With the spring game set to kick off on Saturday, Nehemiah Ombati, a top prospect for the Nebraska football team, was planning on being in attendance. Unfortunately, the defensive lineman got caught up in the mess that is currently this country's air travel problems. Late Friday night and early Saturday morning, he took to Twitter to announce he wouldn't make it to Lincoln this weekend.

"Tough situation," Ombati wrote. "Won't be attending the Nebraska spring practice no more." He added that while he's canceling it was not because he didn't want to come, and that he'll be finding another time to come see the Huskers up close and personal.

"I'll be finding another time to be heading to Nebraska due to my flight being canceled, really sat in the airport for 4 hours due to delays!" He finished his post. He's certainly not the first, nor will he be the last, to have to cancel a trip because of airport chaos. He does appear to be the first person planning a visit to Lincoln to see the spring game to have to cancel for this specific reason.

Nehemiah Ombati cancels Nebraska football spring game visit after flight problems

Nehemiah Ombati is a 4-star defensive line prospect according to both the 247Sports Composite and the Rivals Industry Rankings. The Shakopee (Waconia, MN) star is considered the No. 3 player in Minnesota, the No. 35 defensive lineman, and the No. 293 player by 247Sports. Rivals has the 6-foot-2, 275-pound defender also ranked as the No. 3 player in the state, the No. 45 player at his position, and the No. 366 player in his class.

Nebraska offered Ombati at the end of January, and the Huskers made a strong impression. Schools like Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan State, and Wisconsin stand out, but even a growing list of programs within the Big 12 seem to be catching on to his name.

As a junior this fall, Ombati totaled 3.5 sacks on his way to adding an impressive 70 tackles to his high school career total. He's a do-it-all kind of player with traits and the frame that translate to the Big Ten.

At the moment, it appears the Badgers might have the inside track. However, the Huskers were hoping to make a big impression during the spring game. Now, Nebraska will have to find another weekend when the big defensive lineman can come visit Lincoln. Unfortunately, as Congress once again fumbled an agreement that would have cleared up a TSA shutdown, it could be several more weeks before Nehemiah Ombati decides he wants to chance traveling by air.
