If Matt Rhule doesn't leave the Nebraska football program for Penn State, his plan could be bringing the Nittany Lions program to Lincoln. More accurately, he's looking to get some of the best players that were recently committed to State College to Memorial Stadium, including wide receiver Khalil Taylor.
Taylor, like 5-star running back Kemon Spell, helped make up one of the best recruiting classes in the 2027 class. Also like Spell, Taylor decommitted from the Nittany Lions just hours after they fired James Franklin. And once again, like Kemon Spell, Taylor is now considering the Huskers as one of his eventual landing spots.
Nebraska football targeting former Penn State commits as 2027 class heats up
Nebraska will host recent Penn State decommit, WR Khalil Taylor, for a visit on October 25 in Lincoln. The Huskers were named as one of the teams Taylor wanted to visit immediately following his decommitment.

On3 analyst Bryan Munson reported on Monday that Khalil Taylor plans on visiting Nebraska on October 25 when the Huskers face off against Northwestern. Considering that Spell is interested in NU but hasn't set a visit, there could be a chance Rhule and Co. could have a 2-for-1 weekend with the former Penn State commits.
Taylor is considered a four-star recruit according to Rivals. He is also the No. 60 recruit and the No. 11 wide receiver in the nation, as well as the No. 4-ranked player from Pennsylvania in the 2027 recruiting class. He was the third-highest-ranked recruit in the Nittany Lions' 2027 class, which ranked No. 2 in the country, until they lost all their commits. He was the only wide receiver on board.
He's so impressive that when the wide receiver announced he decommitted and was looking towards Nebraska, QB commit Trae Taylor took no time at all to announce he would work on it from his end.
The Huskers have good connections in Pennsylvania under Matt Rhule. Nebraska actually offered Khalil Taylor back in November of 2023 and was his fourth offer overall.
Nebraska’s 2027 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 5 in the nation overall with four commits in the class. The class includes 4-star safety Tory Pittman, 4-star quarterback Trae Taylor, 3-star wide receiver Jabari Watkins, and 3-star offensive tackle Matt Erickson.
