The Nebraska football team is finishing up June on a strong note. Having hauled in several recruits over the last few weeks, Matt Rhule and his staff got another big recruit in the form of 4-star defensive back Danny Odem.
Odem made the announcement on Monday afternoon, just one day after finishing up an official visit to Lincoln to get a final taste of what the Huskers had to offer. Whatever they offered over the weekend, the Florida prospect felt like it made sense to make Lincoln home.
Nebraska football adds 4-star defensive back Danny Odem to 2026 class
On Sunday night, Odem announced he was picking his team from a pool of five finalists, including Nebraska football, Clemson, Penn State, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.

Matt Rhule and defensive backs coach Addison Williams were able to pull a commit away from a group of power programs like that, which should raise eyebrows. It should primarily raise eyebrows among other targets considering the Nebraska football program over the next few days and weeks.
Odem showed the athleticism that made him so attractive to some of the best teams in the country last year. The defensive back tallied 45 tackles, 2 interceptions, 3 pass deflections, and a fumble recovery.
While he played more on defense than offense, he was called upon to help his squad on that side on occasion as well. In 2024, he hauled down 5 receptions for 40 yards.
Danny Odem joins a Nebraska football 2026 recruiting class with some work. He becomes just the seventh commit for a group ranked near 70th in the country by all the primary recruiting services. Granted, his addition will help that ranking. So several other pledges expected to arrive in the next week or so.
