All eyes on Matt Rhule as Nebraska closes in on 4-star CB ahead of Monday decision

Nebraska football fans likely won't have to wait long for the next addition to the Huskers' 2026 recruiting class. Cornerback Danny Odem is announcing his commitment on Monday afternoon, and Matt Rhule and his staff have done and said all the right things during his recruitment.

Odem is a 4-star defensive back out of The First Academy (Orlando, FL) who is the No. 19 corner, No. 27 player in Florida, and No. 198 player in the 2026 cycle, according to On3's industry rankings. He also has offers from some biggie programs like Penn State, Oklahoma, and Ohio State, among others. Despite playoff contenders coming calling, Odem seems to like Lincoln's vibe a little better.

Nebraska football recruiting analysts Sean Callahan and Bryan Munson both entered predictions for Odem to commit to the Cornhuskers on Sunday evening. We won't have to wait long to see if they're correct because the Florida prospect is announcing his school choice at 4 p.m. on June 23.

At least one other analyst who has keyed into how Odem's recruiting has gone believes that the Clemson Tigers are out of the running. Odem had previously included the ACC power alongside Nebraska, Penn State, Ohio State, and Oklahoma among his final five.

Tigernet's Grayson Mann believes his school is "on the outside looking in."

Odem has already put up impressive numbers at the high school level, recording 45 tackles, 2 interceptions, 3 pass deflections, and a fumble recovery in his junior season. According to MaxPreps, he also played on the offensive side of the football and recorded 5 receptions for 40 yards.

Danny Odem officially visited the Nebraska football team's home base this past weekend alongside several other top Husker prospects. There's quite a bit of anticipation that this weekend especially was quite successful in boosting the Cornhuskers recruiting run.
