The Nebraska football team's 2026 recruiting class was underwhelming. However, between the 2027 class and the players the Huskers have added since the December signing day has blunted the blow. Wide receiver Jamari Brown is a very late addition to NU's 2026 class, but as they say, better late than never.
Brown announced his commitment on Friday, and he'll join the Huskers in the summer as a member of the 2026 class. He's able to do so because he's a preferred walk-on, rather than a scholarship signee.
The 5-11, 170-pound wide receiver from Mount Carmel High School would give Nebraska 116 on its roster in 2026. He was on the same Mount Carmel team as Husker offensive line signee Claude Mpouma, which won a state championship.
Hey @claude_mpouma and @Qb6Trae I hear you guys are having a party in LINCOLN, and got room for 1 more…..

Jamari Brown gives Nebraska football's wide receiver room an unexpected late boost
The most interesting aspect of the Brown commitment, other than the fact that his pledge came out of nowhere, is that he joins a wide receiver room that is quite deep. It might be the deepest it's been under head coach Matt Rhule and offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen.
When analysts study the film of Brown, it becomes obvious that he has big-play ability and is regularly seen getting behind defenses and making big plays. He's also someone who, despite not having a ton of size, looks like he runs tough and is hard to bring down.
Jamari Brown didn't have a ton of offers coming out of high school, but he did get one from Ole Miss, a team that went to the College Football Playoff in 2025. Nebraska managed to bring in some more talent at a position where it pays to have plenty.
