A very busy Tuesday for Nebraska in the transfer portal included the Huskers adding their fifth commit of the day and the third linebacker since Friday. The latest addition is Dexter Foster, a young under-the-radar defender with significant upside.
Foster started lining up visits with several Big Ten and ACC teams, however, when he came to Lincoln to see what the Huskers had to offer, he pulled the trigger on a commitment. While Foster isn't at the top of most linebacker lists he had two very solid seasons with the Oregon State Beavers before entering the portal.
Nebraska picks up third linebacker in Dexter Foster
On Tuesday night, Bryan Munson of On3 announced that Foster committed to Nebraska. His commitment continues NU's reshaping of its defense under new coordinator Rob Aurich.
Foster joins former Iowa State linebacker Will Hawthorne, who will be a redshirt-freshman next season, and senior Owen Chambliss. Chambliss played under Aurich at San Diego State in 2025 and can help his fellow new defensive additions learn Aurich's scheme.
A sophomore from Portland (Ore) Central Catholic, Foster played in 19 games in two seasons as a Beaver.
In 2025, he started seven, recording 52 tackles with 3 tackles for loss, 4 quarterback hurries, and a pass break-up, before injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
There is also a Rob Aurich connection when it comes to the young linebacker. Nebraska's new defensive coordinator recruited Dexter Foster out of high school. While Aurich eventually lost that recruiting battle, he finally got his man on Tuesday night.
