Fresh off its first portal win of the season, the Nebraska football is looking to engage in a fierce battle for several wide receiver targets. Right at the top of the list seems to be former Cal pass catcher Nyziah Hunter.
While the Huskers haven’t delved as heavily into the portal as some other teams in the Big Ten, NU has started to make a habit of going after transfer receivers. In 2024, both Isaiah Neyor and Jahmal Banks came over in the porta, and both saw quite a bit of time on the playing field.
It’s a safe bet Nebraska football will take at least another two receivers if they can in this class. Hunter looks like he’ll be the first visitor in the group to check out what Lincoln and the NU program have to offer. However once head coach Matt Rhule shows him what the Huskers can offer him, a fierce battle with several old Big 12 rivals will break out.
Nebraska football has fight on its hands for Nyziah Hunter
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Hunter has scheduled three visits. He’ll be paying a visit to see the Oklahoma Sooners next week. Depending on how busy he wants to be he could also pay a visit to Lincoln and then will also take a look at Texas Tech before committing as well.
While Hunter is just one of several wide receivers the Nebraska football team has on its watch list, the man who hauled down 40 passes for 578 yards and 5 TDs as a true freshman is clearly right at the top of the target list.
