As the Nebraska football team starts to head towards the end of its spring practice session with something that isn’t quite the Spring Game anymore, the Huskers appear to be answering some questions about what is to be expected in 2025. That’s especially true of the offensive line. A unit that might actually benefit from having several possible starters out right now so the team can build some depth.
On Saturday, head coach Matt Rhule singled out a few offensive linemen that have been impressing him this spring. One such player was portal transfer addition Elijah Pritchett. Another was a guy that’s been in Lincoln for a little while and is starting to show that he can be something as long as he really believes in himself.
“As soon as Grant decides that he’s a scholarship player, he’s going to be something else,” Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule said about third-year sophomore Grant Seagren. “He’s in the Raikes school, so that means he’s an elite student — he has to leave meetings to go to class and he makes it up.”
Matt Rhule sees unexpected Nebraska football O-line star rising
"He’s got all the talent to be a starter;” Rhule added about the player who joined the Huskers as a walk-on tight end. “He just has to in his mind say, ‘I’m the starting left tackle.’ …He’s a big-time player in my mind.”
He is also the kind of player that might not have gotten a lot of run this spring if Turner Corcoran, Gunnar Gottula, Henry Lutovsky and Teddy Prochazka were all healthy and practicing this spring.
While they should be back for the fall and will make the Nebraska football team’s offensive line that much better, guys like Seagren are standing out in Matt Rhule’s mind. It can never be a bad thing to have unexpected contributors stand up.
