There may not be a more critical matchup against Northwestern than this morning's game will be for the Nebraska football team. For the most part, the Wildcats have been an annoying bump in the road in the Big Ten more than anything else. However, they've also been a team that derailed more Husker seasons than anyone in the program is happy to admit.

This year, a win over the team from Evanston will make the Huskers eligible for a bowl game at the earliest point in a season since the 2016 campaign. A loss will have Cornhuskers fans very nervous as it would mean the continuance of a weird issue whenever Matt Rhule's squad gets to five wins. Fresh off a blowout win over the Northwestern volleyball team on Friday night, NU is hoping to handle its business again against the football team.

Nebraska vs Northwestern final odds

Despite Northwestern being much better than anyone expected in 2025, the Huskers are still pretty heavy favorites considering they lost a bad game against Minnesota last week and the Wildcats are currently on a 4-game losing streak.

Nebraska is currently a 7.5-point favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. They're comfortable favorites mainly because the Huskers are playing at home.

Nebraska football vs Northwestern final prediction

There's been a lot of talk from the players and coaches about how things will be different this weekend compared to last week. It's hard to buy into that until this team proves it.

I'm not from Missouri, but I still need them to show me before I buy back into this team doing what it needs to do to win the games that really shouldn't be close.

Northwestern pulls off the upset over Nebraska football, and the panic button gets pushed, 20-17.
