The Nebraska football team had a bye this week (and it didn’t go well), but several Husker alumni had high-impact games in Week 7 of the NFL.

Sometimes, picking the best NFL performances of the bunch isn’t easy because the league has so few impact players. This week, plenty of guys tried their best to help their teams, even if they eventually lost.

Thomas Fidone records first NFL catch as Nebraska football alumni make Week 7 impact

Emmett Johnson

Emmett Johnson still isn't getting many carries because of Kenneth Walker's strong season for the Kansas City Chiefs, but he’s still making himself useful. Johnson led former Huskers with 98 all-purpose yards, including 81 kickoff-return yards and 17 receiving yards. His 41-yard return was his longest of the season. Of course, all of those numbers were eventually for naught as the Chiefs lost 20-3 to the Seattle Seahawks.

Cam Taylor-Britt

On defense, Cam Taylor-Britt had the strongest defensive outing among Nebraska alumni, recording 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 pass breakup against the Minnesota Vikings. Taylor-Britt is in his first season with the Indianapolis Colts after spending his first few years with NU alumnus Zac Taylor and the Cincinnati Bengals. This year, he’s totaled 13 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 pass breakups.

Maliek Collins

Maliek Collins didn’t have a huge Sunday, but he did log a tackle for a Cleveland Browns team that won yet another heartstopper, improving to 5-2 in 2026. Perhaps the biggest news for Collins is that he was rewarded with a brand-new contract: he and Cleveland agreed to a two-year, $30 million extension.

Cam Jurgens

Cam Jurgens didn’t have a huge game, but getting on the field at all was a big step. Jurgens played his first game for the Baltimore Ravens since he was traded from the Philadelphia Eagles. He had missed recent contests while in concussion protocol. With Jurgens back, rookie first-round pick Vega Ioane moved back to his natural position at right guard. In the first half against the Bengals, the Ravens looked set to roll as they took a 13-0 lead to the locker room. However, Joe Burrow and his offense exploded in the second half, scoring 35 unanswered to win 35-13.

Thomas Fidone II

He might not have lit up the scoreboard or stat sheet, but Sunday will likely be a day former Nebraska tight end Thomas Fidone never forgets. He not only got into the game in the New York Giants' overtime win over the Houston Texans, but he also made his first career catch: a 29-yard reception he almost turned into his first career touchdown.
