There was a time when the Nebraska football team looked like it had an inside path to landing the top offensive line prospect in the 2026 class. However, as the cycle has gone, Jackson Cantwell has started looking at other teams.
Earlier this week, the top offensive lineman in the class of 2026 announced his official visit schedule, and the Cornhuskers did not make the cut. Jackson Cantwell is a five-star offensive tackle for Nixa High School in Nixa, Missouri and there was a time when it seemed as though NU had an inside run towards the monster lineman.
All four recruiting services rank Cantwell as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the class of 2026. On3 and Rivals also rank him as the overall top prospect in his class. That makes the recruiting loss a big one for the Nebraska football target who is still looking at several Big Ten rivals that would make losing the race that much more painful.

Cantwell’s announced visit schedule includes his home state team as well as some of the best teams in the country.
The five-star recruit will visit the Miami Hurricanes on May 9, the Missouri Tigers on May 31, the Georgia Bulldogs on June 6, the Michigan Wolverines on June 13 and the Oregon Ducks on June 20.
If there is a reason to take solace for Nebraska football fans, Cantwell left off plenty of other big schools. Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU and USC also missed the cut for the top ranked prospect.
