Individual Nebraska football fans who are concerned about the lack of updates surrounding the Memorial Stadium Project aren't alone. Rivals chief analyst Sean Callahan feels the anxiety in the ether, and on Friday, he essentially said those feelings aren't entirely misplaced.
Callahan went on local radio station 93.7 The Ticket to discuss the situation recently, and it's clear that he's also a little wigged out by the lack of information about a project that's been on the back burner for a couple of years now.
Host Steve Sipple opened the segment by making it clear that Nebraska fans and even people who cover the program daily haven't heard anything about the Memorial Stadium Project for "months now." He then asked Callahan if the analyst knew where things currently stand with the initiative.
"This Memorial Stadium project... where are we at on that?"

"A week from Friday, the Nebraska Board or Regents meeting agenda will be posted... if it's not on the agenda then that's a problem,"

Nebraska football insiders say the next regents agenda could be a major Memorial Stadium clue
Callahan said a week from today, on April 17, the agenda for the next University of Nebraska regents meeting will drop. "That's the last meeting of the year," Callahan added. "If it's not on the agenda. Then that's a problem."
"I still think it will be, is my guess. But it's very quiet. You don't hear anything out there about this. You know, why is this deadline coming up important? Because it will involve a re-seat. When you tear down the South Stadium, you're going to displace like 22,000 season ticket holders or take a seat in. You have to give your ticket holders notice of that. And you've got to give them notice that there's going to be a re-seat. And you've got to give them, you know, at least, I believe, 12 months from the renewal date."
"There's a lot of things there that are going to have to happen," Callahan said before noting he's seen signs that construction is either ongoing or getting ready to begin.
"A leads to B. They're doing some internal construction work on things already inside the stadium, like the kitchens and other things."
However, the analyst noted that it feels like it's been forever since there was a concrete update on just when things will really get rolling. Considering the unveiling took place in 2023, and Troy Dannen has already pushed things back once, all eyes will be on the regent's agenda on Friday, April 17.
If there isn't a substantial update on the Memorial Stadium project next week, then Nebraska football fans have to wonder if the project has been put on permanent hold.
