When the Nebraska football team made a change at offensive coordinator, moving Dana Holgorsen in and moving Marcus Satterfield to tight ends coach, there were plenty of people who wondered just what the point of keeping the demoted assistant on staff was.

It turns out, that Satterfield might be showing exactly why he’s still a member of the Huskers staff this spring.

Nebraska football fighting big TE recruiting battles

As Rivals’ Tim Verghese recently pointed out, the highest paid position coach on the Nebraska football staff is still earning his high salary by doing a heck of a job keeping NU in recruiting battles for some of the best tight ends in the 2026 class.

Four tight end targets in particular, are high on the Cornhuskers, and Satterfield, for all the reasons that fans are annoyed with him, appears to be a big reason why the program is having success in that department.

Top tight end prospects planning Nebraska football visits

Among the latest top TE prospects the Huskers are in on, is Millard South product, Isaac Jensen. While he’s currently listed as a 3-star, he’ll likely keep rising. He’s coming to Lincoln on June 13 for an official visit.

A week after Jensen comes to town, the Cornhuskers will host Port Huron, Michigan tight end Lincoln Watkins, and on that same day, Camden Jensen a 4-star tight end who is also the top player in the state of Colorado will check out the Huskers officially.

There’s likely always going to be some Nebraska football fans who look sideways at Marcus Satterfield because of the offensive struggles under his watch, as well as the way the “transfer of power” to Holgorsen went down. But it’s clear the tight end coach is doing work when it comes to recruiting and proving he’s definitely still got a place on NU’s staff.
