One of the things that makes college football so great is the number of programs that have had the same coach running them at different times in their history. Even Nebraska football was part of this phenomenon in the not-too-distant past, when Bo Pelini served as the interim head coach when Frank Solich was fired and then hired back when Bill Callahan was handed his walking papers.
Now it’s possible that the Huskers could be the victims of a program trying to fix a mistake it made in allowing a former coach to walk. And it’s possible this is the one that could stand in the way of NU keeping Dana Holgorsen on board more than any other job.
On Sunday morning, the West Virginia Mountaineers announced they parted ways with head coach Neal Brown. While things are still very new, is it possible that the Nebraska football team might lose their OC to his old program? It’s hardly out of the question.
Nebraska football could have West Virginia roadblock to keeping Dana Holgorsen
Brown was the man who replaced Holgorsen when Dana left for the Houston Cougars. While the Huskers’ OC went on record earlier this summer saying he didn’t regret leaving West Virginia for greener pastures, one has to wonder if he might regret not going for the job now if he doesn’t try.
In eight seasons with WVA, he compiled a 61-41 record and it stands to reason, there might be some interest in a reunion. This particular job opening, more than any of the others that have come open in the last few days, might be one to watch for Nebraska football fans.
