When Mac Markway joined the Nebraska football program few people saw it coming. Not even his then offensive coordinator, Marcus Satterfield.

The LSU transfer joined the Huskers at the very end of August, just days ahead of NU’s season kick off. When Satterfield addressed the media soon after the news got out, it was clear that the transfer had been on the down-low to the point that he hadn’t been in the loop.

Markway wasn’t a player recruited to the Nebraska football program so much as a player who saw what he wanted and went out and got it. Unfortunately, Markway’s 2024 season ended just a few weeks later when he tore his ACL. But now the tight end is getting healthy and wants Husker fans to know he is ready to get to work.

Nebraska football player promises big things ahead

Markway took to social media earlier this week to announce his plans and his excitement over his first full season with Nebraska.

“Coming for a vengeance in 25!” The tight end wrote. “Will make every BigRed Fan swell with pride!”

Markway will almost certainly get a medical redshirt for the 2024 season and still be a sophomore for the 2025 season. He started his career with the LSU Tigers under Brian Kelly and saw limited action in 2023.

He finished with 3 receptions with just 16 yards and 1 touchdown catch. He didn’t get to play much but in garbage time. His one touchdown came in a 56-14 win over Georgia State. Now he’s looking to have a bigger impact for Nebraska football and could have a real shot with not one but two tight ends transferring out so far in the portal this offseason.
