Nebraska football loses key recruiting battle as top OL target picks Big Ten rival

Nebraska football loses top OL target Hudson Parliament to Iowa, but the battle isn’t over yet. With NIL and time on their side, the Huskers may still compete.

The Nebraska football team has been making the list for some of the best players in the country when it comes to the 2026 recruiting class. Unfortunately, one of the top players it thought it was in very good standing with, picked a conference rival.

Hudson Parliament, a monster of an offensive lineman was one of those guys that the Huskers thought they could win over. In part because NU has had some real success recruiting the Dakotas.

The Nebraska football team’s coaching staff had to be a bit taken aback when Parliament announced this week that he was choosing the Iowa Hawkeyes. Granted, Kirk Ferentz has put together some very good offensive lines, but the Huskers haven’t lost many head-to-head recruiting battles to their Big Ten rival to the East for the best prospects out there.

Nebraska football loses a pitched battle for monster offensive lineman to Big Ten rival

The 6-foot-4, 320-pound South Dakota native announced earlier this week that he’s headed to Iowa City for his college career. Parliament chose Iowa over offers from schools such as Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Texas Tech and others, including Nebraska.

Rivals ranks Parliament as a four-star commit, as the nation’s No. 227 player overall in the 2026 class and as its No. 6 offensive guard. Meanwhile, both On3 and 247Sports rate Parliament as a three-star commit.

There was a time when NU looked like they might be the front runner for the best player in South Dakota for the 2026 class. However, the Hawkeyes made quite a run of late. The good news here is that there is quite a bit of time between now and National Signing Day in December.

It’s a safe bet that the Nebraska football team isn’t going to be letting go of this offensive lineman anytime soon. Especially in the era of NIL, where it’s possible the Cornhuskers might be able to come up with a bigger bag once their own 2026 recruiting class really starts to take shape. This will be one to watch for the next few month to see how things change.
