The Nebraska football team is already out in front for one of the better OTs in the 2026 class, ahead of Oregon and USC.

The Nebraska football team is working hard to haul in another Top 25 class in the 2026 recruiting class. It looks like those efforts are paying off. The Huskers’ have been working so hard for one top offensive tackle that at least for now, they’re considered the slight favorite to land Kelvin Obot.

Obot is a 4-star offensive tackle out of Fruitland, Idaho. As it turns out, he’s going to take a trip to Lincoln at the start of next month in order to see what the Huskers have to offer.

That visit will hopefully give the Nebraska football team an even bigger edge. As of now, according to On3, NU is leading the race, though it’s not an overwhelming advantage. But at this point in the recruiting cycle, it’s hardly a bad thing to have any edge at all.

Nebraska football is the early frontrunner for Idaho offensive tackle

The website has the Cornhuskers with a 44% chance of landing Kelvin Obot. In second place is the Oregon Ducks who are currently given a 20% chance of winning the recruiting battle. In third place, the USC Trojans have a 17%  chance of winning the battle.

Of course, one of the craziest part of this recruiting battle, is that the Huskers might not even be in it if USC and Oregon weren’t in the Big Ten these days. Just a few years ago this would be two Pac 12 teams facing off against a B1G school still trying to pick itself up off the mat.

Now, Matt Rhule and company can guarantee guys from Idaho that the school will be back in that region of the country at least once a year of not more. It’s one of the benefits of the Big Ten expanding so far East and West. There really are very few regions NU won’t eventually see during a campaign.

It’s possible that the Nebraska football team wouldn’t even be in the conversation for the 6-foot-5, 265 offensive tackle just a few years ago. Now they’re players for one of the better 4-star prospects in the 2026 class.
