Gearing up for a make or break season for the Nebraska football team, Husker players and coaches are looking for any edge they can get. That includes a pair of NU's top wide receivers in Kwazi Gilmer and Jacory Barney doing some offseason workouts with NFL stars.

Rivals analyst Tim Verghese showed Gilmer and Barney working out with Green Bay Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden and Houston Texas WR Tank Dell on Sunday. The quartet appear to have hooked up through NU's wide receiver coach Daikiel Shorts who is coaching or coached every single one of them.

Nebraska has plenty of hype around the wide receiver room anyway. Gilmer, especially, is expected to have a very big 2026 with the Hukers after spending two seasons at UCLA as the Bruins’ top pass catcher.

Why Nebraska football could benefit from Kwazi Gilmer and Jacory Barney working with NFL stars

Barney too, is someone that Husker coaches especially believe have a massive breakout season with Anthony Colandrea now under center instead of Dylan Raiola. The former UNLV quarterback is considered a bit more of a gun slinger who is less afraid to fire the ball deep if he believes his receiver is open.

Dell, who played for Shorts at Houston, is growing into one of the best young receivers in the NFL. He's also on the comeback trail. After catching 51 passes in the 2024 campaign, he missed the entirety of the 2025 season.

Golden just finished his rookie season with the Packers. While he didn't find the endzone, he did haul down 29 receptions for 361 yards.

As Nebraska looks for every single advantage it can get in 2026. Two of the team's top receivers learning the ropes from young NFL stars is a darn good bonus.
