The Nebraska football team might have landed two talented defensive players this weekend, but it’s clear that new defensive coordinator John Butler and his crew aren’t done reshaping the Huskers’ defense. Next month NU is set to host one of the better defensive backs in the transfer portal.

Numerous reports started circulating on social media last week that NU will host one of the best corners available. Though it’s going to be a little while before the team will get to show Jyaire Brown what the Huskers have to offer.

Brown could be looking towards the Nebraska football team because he’s going to have more than a few shots at playing time. The Huskers are losing quite a bit from their defensive backfield this offseason and are looking to reload.

Nebraska football looking to add talented defensive back

Brown first played for the Ohio State Buckeyes during the 2022 season, recording eight tackles and a fumble recovery. He also played in four games for OSU in 2023 before entering the transfer portal at the end of that campaign.

He spent last year with the LSU Tigers, recording just three tackles.

According to the 247Sports rankings, Brown was the 30th-ranked corner in his class and the 11th-ranked player in his class from the state of Ohio.

Nebraska football could be a the fresh start that Jyaire Brown is looking for. It would seem as though someone like Ceyair Wright could be indicative of that sort of thing. That could be quite the same pitch when he visits on January 20.
