Nebraska football coaches know that the running back room needs a serious revamp. They knew that, especially when star running back Emmett Johnson declared for the NFL Draft despite having another year of eligibility. Now, a room that was already thin in both talent and bodies is thinner on both with the report that Jamarion Parker is expected to enter the transfer portal.
The report that Parker will look for greener pastures hit on Monday night and means that a position that was already likely going to be restocked through the portal is a must now. The Huskers need to spend a pretty penny on rebuilding the unit.
Parker joined Nebraska out of Cardinal Ritter College Prep in St. Louis and was one of the better running back recruits in the 2025 class. He had 168 carries for 1,730 yards and 24 touchdowns as a first-team all-state selection his senior year. As a junior, he rushed for 1,644 yards and 22 touchdowns on 147 carries and caught 16 passes for 267 yards and four scores.
Nebraska RB room thins further with Jamarion Parker’s expected portal entry
Parker had a setback in the spring when he missed time with an injury and didn't get into a game in 2025. That was even though the Huskers needed bodies in the running back room so bad they moved Isaiah Mozee from wide receiver to the position and gave him a handful of carries.
While Nebraska isn't losing production with Parker's expected exit ot the portal, it's missing talent. It's also possible Parker could change his mind. There's almost a whole month until the portal opens. He could follow in the footsteps of Emmett Johnson last year in that regard.
