As the Nebraska football team enters gameday against Northwestern, it got some good injury news from two contributors who the Huskers need badly to play on Saturday. The biggest, most interesting note comes with Rocco Spindler, who injured his hand so badly against Minnesota that he had to be rushed to the hospital during the game.

Nebraska just released the injury report for Saturday morning's game, and Spindler isn't listed anywhere on it. That indicates he's ready to go and return to start at right guard for the Huskers.

Rocco Spindler’s speedy recovery is a huge lift for Nebraska

The other notable absence for Nebraska is linebacker Vincent Shavers Jr. He missed all but seven snaps against the Golden Gophers, but like Spindler, he isn't listed at all on Saturday morning, so he appears to be full go as well. That's a significant addition to a defense that has had problems stopping the run the last few weeks.

One player listed as questionable that could be a significant loss is starting right tackle Gunnar Gottula. Huskers head coach Matt Rhule didn't talk about any injury to Gottula during the week, so it's possible something popped up Friday.

Gottula struggled mightily last week against Minnesota, allowing at least 4 of the 9 sacks PJ Fleck's squad logged vs Nebraska. He looked like he was struggling enough that it's possible he was banged up as well, but managed to stay in the game.

According to the Cornhuskers' depth chart, if Gottula can't go at right tackle, the job would fall to Teddy Prochazka. Elijah Pritchett will return to start at left tackle after being ejected last Friday for a controversial targeting call in the first half of the 24-6 loss.

Even before Spindler's return and Gottula's injury, there was bound to be plenty of focus on Nebraska's offensive line against Northwestern. If the coaching staff has figured out a way to make them look better, it will go a long way towards logging their sixth win of the season.
