Nebraska football hosting quintet of Magnolia State prospects for UCLA
As this weekend is one of the last home games of the season for the Nebraska football team, it’s bound to be a big recruiting weekend. There’s also the fact that their contest against UCLA might be their best chance at clinching a bowl.
Should they indeed win their sixth game for the first time since 2016, Memorial Stadium is going to be a party. No better atmosphere for recruits to see what a winning program in Lincoln can offer.
As part of that big recruiting weekend, it turns out the Nebraska footbal staff is going to try and pull a quintet of players out of a state they rarely recruit all that hard. Five different prospects from the state of Mississippi will be in town to check out the big game.
Nebraska football bringing in quintet of Mississippi prospects
Rivals reported earlier on Wednesday that the Huskers are hosting some elite prospects from several different classes.
2026 4-star wide receiver Xavier McDonald, his brother 2027 4-star cornerback Dolph McDonald, 2026 rush end Nolan Wilson, 4-star 2026 offensive tackle Mitchell Smith and 2027 4-star running back Tyson Robinson will all be in town on Saturday.
It’s possible that running back Dante Dowdell could be a bit of an ace in the hole for this recruiting weekend. The Oregon transfer is a native of the Sip and he could certainly talk to these five about what it’s like transitioning to Lincoln, Nebraska.
Because all five are from no earlier than the 2026 class, it’s unlikely any of them will be pulling the commitment trigger, but this kind of weekend is great when it comes to Nebraska football laying the ground work.
