While there's all kinds of excitement over what Dylan Raiola can offer the Nebraska football team, there's one quarterback who has been largely ignored by the media in fall camp. Quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas wants to make sure people remember that TJ Lateef has plenty of talent.
It was Thomas's turn to talk to the media on Friday afternoon and his press conference touched on several subjects. However, one of the most interesting topics was how the true freshman signal-caller has done in camp so far. In particular, Thomas is excited about Lateef's skillset. He thinks he's not all that far behind the Huskers' starting quarterback in terms of those skills.
TJ Lateef showing an 'urgency to learn' to Nebraska football coaches
"Yeah, excited about particularly his skill set. He can really throw it," Thomas said about the frosh Nebraska football quarterback. "You know, as you guys can see, he's athletic. He can make some plays off schedule."
"He's starting to see the field better and better every day. You know, practice, he's literally right behind Dylan trying to get that visual of what's happening as far as post-snap confirmation." Thomas finished his review of Lateef by saying he's "excited about his eagerness and urgency to learn and the proactive nature he goes about it."
All of that is important for a young quarterback who has seemingly been lost in the shuffle when talking about all the reasons to be excited for the 2025 season.
Lateef is expected to mostly just learn from the bench during Nebraska football games this season, but it looks as though he's picking things up quickly and could be an asset for the Cornhuskers moving forward.
