There's plenty of excitement around the Nebraska football team entering the 2025 season, but just how long will the team be undefeated? One analysts believes he's pinpointed when the Huskers will lose their first game of the season.
Brad Crawford of CBS Sports predicted the first loss for all 18 Big Ten conference teams. Crawford believes the Huskers will suffer their first loss on September 20 against the Michigan Wolverines.
Brad Crawford prediction: Nebraska football’s first loss timeline
That loss is hardly surprising, nor would the Nebraska football team starting 3-0 a particular shock. Unfortunately, it's not hard to imagine that NU might lose its first big test of the season. It's something that's happened a few times in the Matt Rhule era. Granted, the Wolverines are expected to be one of the best teams in the Big Ten.
They're also one of the only tests in Nebraska's conference slate. Phil Steele was just the latest analyst who recently named the Huskers' schedule as the easiest in the B1G.
Crawford did make it clear that while he thinks the Cornhuskers will lose to Michigan, there's a chance they could pull the win off and really start to turn things around.
"Matt Rhule has lost his last 16 games against nationally ranked opponents," Crawford wrote. "He'll look to end that skid against the Wolverines in Week 4 after what could be a 3–0 start. Dylan Raiola's national coming-out party could happen if Nebraska defends its home turf against one of the league's most talented teams."
We're now very, very close to finding out just how good the Nebraska football team will be this season. Assuming they start the year with a win over Cincinnati, everyone in and around the program will circle the Michigan game on September 20 in bright red.
